When I lead management training, I spend most of the time building success skills. I usually set aside some time for what people ought to avoid. It’s called, Don’t do dumb stuff.
I’d go so far as to suggest that even if you’re not good at any of the things you’re supposed to do, you might be an okay manager by not doing the bad. I’ve made lots of management no-no lists. This list is as good as any of mine. Plenty of practices to avoid.
